The Knot Best of Weddings 2015 Award Winner

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all had a great time ringing in the new year last night and that your day has started off great.

It's the 1st day of 2015 which means I can officially announce the following.... (I was notified I won in November, you don't know how hard it was to keep this a secret!)

Jasmine Norris Photography has been awarded Best Of Weddings 2015 by The Knot!!!!!! The Knot is one of the biggest wedding websites and only 2% of wedding vendors nationwide are awarded with the title "Best of Weddings". The award is chosen by real couples who nominate the top wedding professionals they have personally worked with. Therefore, I want to say a big THANK YOU to all of my awesome couples!

I am looking forward to the weddings I have already booked for 2015! If you are recently engaged or know someone who needs a wedding photographer, lets talk, I still have some availability for 2015!

2014 Year End Review

Dear 2014, you were awesome! 2015, I'm looking forward to you!

2014 has been a GREAT year for Jasmine Norris Photography.  First off, I've had some amazing clients!  Seriously! Getting to meet and photograph all of you is what makes my job wonderful.  I've photographed everything from weddings, family's, senior portraits, pets, gender reveals, restaurant grand openings, and pretty much everything in between.  I opened an official office! I participated in Small Business Saturday. I got to team up with Pet Supplies Plus twice this year.  There are so many great moments from this year that I can't even include them all in a post.

However, even though 2014 was great, I know that 2015 is going to be even more AMAZING!  I've booked my first bridal show.  I have amazing weddings booked with amazing couples.  I also get to announce a pretty stellar wedding award I won (I've been sitting on this news since November and I'm DYING to tell you all)!  I can't wait to see what else 2015 has in store and I can't wait to photograph you, yes YOU!

I hope all of you had a great 2014 and will have an AMAZING 2015! :)

Pet Supplies Plus Holiday Pet Portraits: Event

I was able to take Pet Supplies Plus' Holiday Pet Portraits again this year!  This is my second year taking the photos and I always love meeting all the adorable pets.  Huge thank you to Pet Supplies Plus for having me again! Below are some of the photos from the event, enjoy!

This will be my last blog post before Christmas, so I hope you all have an excellent holiday!  Be sure to check back the Monday after Christmas for my year end review post! :)

Joni: Maternity and Family

Joni is expecting her second child and literally could not be any cuter with her little baby bump!  She brought along her son and fiance so we could take some photos of all of them together.  The three of them are adorable!  Below are some of my favorites from her session.

Benner Family: Family Christmas Portraits

You may remember the Benner family from their portrait session earlier this year. (You can view that session here: Benner Family)  They contacted me about taking some Christmas photos of their son and then doing a couple of them as a family and with their dogs.  These 3 (5 with the dogs) are always so adorable.

Check out a few of my favorites below.

Brown Family: Family Portraits

Meet the Brown family!  Aren't they adorable?!?!?!  You will be seeing more of this little family in 2015.  They are having a vow renewal ceremony and I will be there photographing the event.  They decided to get some family portaits taken before the year is up. Below are some of my favorites!

DeBonte Family: Family Portraits

This adorable family asked me to take some Christmas family portraits.  It is their sweet little girl's first Christmas and she is absolutely adorable in her red little dress!  Below are a few of my favorites.

Amanda & Matthew: Portraits

Amanda and Matthew contacted me about taking some updated couple portraits so they would have something to use for their Christmas cards this year.  Scheduling was quite tricky.  I was fairly booked up for the holidays but we found a day and time that would work for both of us.  However, once we checked the weather it was calling for rain all day :( We rescheduled but then Amanda remembered they had a meeting at that time.  We went back to our original date but moved the session to Potter's Bridge, a covered bridge in Noblesville, Indiana, just in case it did rain all day.  It ended up being a quite beautiful day, high in the low 60's and no rain!  We took a few photos at the bridge and then moved to one of the trails at the park.

Enjoy a few of my favorites from their session!

Julie & Trevor: Gender Reveal

Julie and Trevor are expecting their first child!  You may remember Julie and Trevor from their wedding earlier this year. (You can view their wedding here: Julie & Trevor: Wedding). Julie and Trevor invited me to come to their gender reveal ultrasound session at Baby Bliss Ultrasound.  (If you haven't heard of Baby Bliss, you NEED to check them out.  They are awesome!)  I captured some photos during their ultrasound and of their reactions to the gender news and afterwards we took some photos in Baby Bliss' photo booth room.

Julie and Trevor are having a boy and his name is going to be Luke.  He's due in May and I can't wait to meet him and photograph his cute little face! :)

A small selection of photos are below for your enjoyment.

Song/Choi Fall Family Portraits Part 2

This family is back again for part 2 of their fall family portraits and as always they are just as adorable as ever!

Want to see their first two sessions?  You can view them here: Choi Family Portraits & here: Song/Choi Family Portraits.

Song/Choi Fall Family Portraits

I absolutely adore this family!  They are so cute and nice and their little girl, ah she is adorable!  I was lucky enough to do two sessions with them, one a couple months ago with the spring green and then this session with the fall leaves.  You can view their first session here: Choi Family Portraits.  This time they also brought along a couple friends.

Enjoy a few of my favorites from their session :)

Pet Supplies Plus Halloween Party: Event Photography

I love when I get to team up with Pet Supplies Plus!  I love meeting everyone's pets because they are all so adorable!  Last weekend I photographed their Halloween Party and Pet Costume Contest.  They also had a kids area that was put on by Loving Heart Animal Shelter and featured games and activites for the kids.  It was a fun time!  I love how there was a variety of pets that dressed up and came out, dogs, cat, bunny, guinnea pig, hedgehog, bearded dragon!  I'm always jealous of the cats.  If I were to dress my cat up and try to take her out, it wouldn't happen.  As soon as she saw the costume she would be running.  The cat that was there this time who was a smore (so cute) literally just layed in her costume all content with life.  Jealous!  Below are a few photos from the event. Enjoy!

The little king you see above is up for adoption.  If you are interested be sure to contact the Loving Heart Animal Shelter.  He is super sweet!

The cat above is up for adoption as well.  She's a sweetheart!  A big barking dog had walked by right when I took this photo and she wasn't too happy with him! :)

New Office/Studio

I know, I know, I'm late on getting this post out!  If you know me or follow my photography Facebook page, you will know that Jasmine Norris Photography got a new  actual office!  Ever since I started my business I never really had an official office.  It would just be my computer and where ever that computer went.  In my husband and I's last two apartments we  dedicated the spare bedroom to my office, but it still wasn't a place were I met with clients.  I would just hole myself away in there editing photos and doing advertising.  My husband and I purchased our first home in July and started remodeling.  It's a beautiful 100 year old Victorian house that still has all of its original woodwork, it needed work and it still has a lot more work that we are going to do to it, but we are putting tons of love and care into it.  One of the selling points of the house was that it's original living room had a separate enterance.  We immediately knew that would be my photography office.  Since July, I've been busy buying furniture and painting and getting it ready.  Although it is not 100% complete, I'm doing the grand reveal since I've already used it for a couple consultations.  I still want to get a couch/love seat for it and a couple of other little things that I haven't found the right ones yet.

My office will be the place were I edit, blog, and get client's sessions ready as well as where I do the whole business side of photography (taxes, bookkeeping, advertising, the fun stuff! haha)  It will also be where I will hold my wedding consultations for my couples who live close to me and where I preview images with all my clients.  Eventually, I will be putting in a mini studio, but that will be on down the road.

If you want to stop by and say hello and see it for yourself and talk about photos, let me know!   1675 Main Street; Lafayette, IN 47904

Joanna & Brian: Engagement

Joanna & Brian   |   Engagement

Joanna & Brian, these two are adorable!  They met through friends and became friends themselves pretty fast.  A couple years later they started to realize that maybe they should start dating.  Fast forward to a year later and now they're engaged and are planning their wedding!  90% of the photos I took during their engagment session were just candids of them being themselves, that's how adorable they are.  I can't wait for their wedding next year!
Oh, by the way, her ring is a raw sapphire!  Pretty awesome, but you know I'm partial to sapphire rings... :)
Below are some of my favorites from their session, check them out and keep an eye out for their wedding next year!

Jennifer & Alex: Engagement

Jennifer & Alex   |   Engagement

Alex and I went to high school together.  I was thrilled when his fiance' Jennifer contacted me about photographing their upcoming wedding.  It's always a lot of fun being able to re-connect with people I haven't talked to in forever and meet their significant others and be able to photograph one of the biggest days of their lives.  We scheduled their engagment session for a Saturday and as that Saturday kept getting closer it looked like the weather wasn't going to cooperate with us :(  First it was supposed to rain all day, but then the weather changed to no rain! Yay!  However, the high was 40 degrees and the location we were originally going to do their photos at decided to close that day due to standing water and mud.  Boo!  We ended up going to a park and downtown to take their engagement photos.  It did end up raining a bit, but it wasn't too bad.  Jennifer and Alex held through it all with me and were troopers (even lugging around super heavy pumpkins)!  Jennifer and Alex are a super cute couple and I can not wait to photograph their wedding next year!

Below are some of my favorite photos from their session, enjoy!

Emily & Kyle: Wedding

Emily & Kyle   |   Wedding   |   Monticello, Indiana

Emily and Kyle got married at a family farm and had their reception at the Hollow Acres Golf Course in Monticello, Indiana.  Both places were beautifully set up.  I first met Emily and Kyle during their wedding consultation.  You could tell that they were very much in love and were excited about getting married.  They were also pretty hands on with everything about their wedding which I think came through perfectly, from their decor to all their special touches that made their wedding uniquely theirs.  They are definelty a fun, laid back couple (who even got into a celery bog for their engagment photos).  You can see their engagment photos here: Emily & Kyle Engagment.

Below is just a small selection of some of my favorites from their big day.

Choi Family Portraits

I was able to photography this adorable family last weekend.  They are too cute!  They wanted a mix of natural looking photos and posed photos and I love how this session turned out.  It was hard picking my favorites for this blog because I really just want to post them all.  Alas, here are my favs.

Brooke & Aron: Wedding

Brooke & Aron   |   September 6, 2014   |   Bloomington, Indiana

Brooke and Aron's wedding took place at Wonderlab in Bloomington, Indiana.  In case you don't know what Wonderlab is, it's a museum that is awesome!  They have animals, play areas, a garden, and lot of other things.  It's like a smaller version of the Children's Museum.  They had their ceremony at the garden area of Wonderlab and their reception in the actual museum.
The day started out dreary and rainy.  Brooke and Aron wanted to do a first look and do their couple portraits before the ceremony at Indiana University, where they both went to school.  The rain, although didn't stop, was fairly nice to us.  It sprinkled a bit here and there but wasn't too bad.  Brooke, Aron, and the rest of the bridal party were awesome and braved the drizzle!  By the time their ceremony rolled around, the rain had completely stopped and the sun came out.
Below is a small selection of some of my favorite images from their wedding.
Brooke and Aron: I wish you two all the best!  You are both great people and I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Jami & Mark: Engagment

Jami & Mark    |   Engagement

I have known Mark for a few years from the Lafayette music scene so when his fiance' Jami contacted me about photographing their upcoming wedding, I was excited!  We got together to do their engagement photos throughout downtown Lafayette last week.  The day originially called for rain.  Luckily it didn't end up raining until after our shoot, but it was a high of 97 degrees (hence the fountain photo)! Enjoy some of my favorites below and be sure to keep a look out for their wedding next month! :)

Emily & Kyle: Engagement

Emily & Kyle   |   Engagement

I met up with Emily and Kyle, along with their dog Romeo, at the Celery Bog last weekend.  It ended up being a hot day and the mosquitos sure were out, but it still ended up being a good shoot.  Emily and Kyle were even kind enough to get into the celery bog for a few photos! :)  I am excited to photograph their wedding this September!

Enjoy some highlights below and keep an eye out for their wedding photos!

Julie & Trevor: Wedding

Julie & Trevor   |   July 7, 2014   |   Lafayette, Indiana

Julie and Trevor got married at the courthouse in Lafayette, Indiana.  The weather that day called for rain, but fortunately it held off and was nice and sunny (90 degrees, but sunny).  Julie and Trevor recently moved to Lafayette so they had a small ceremony with their family and are planning on having a reception with all of their friends and family back home later on this year.

Enjoy some of my favorite images below!

Julie and Trevor: I wish you all the best.  It was a pleasure photographing your big day.   Keep in touch! :)

Ceremony Venue: Lafayette, Indiana Courthouse Fountain
Reception Venue: Bistro 501
Bride's Dress: SWAK
Cake: Kroger

Farmhouse Restaurant Grand Opening: Event Photography

I was asked to photograph the Grand Opening event of the Farmhouse Restaurant at Fair Oaks Farms a few weekends ago.  They had bands, a caricature artist, lots of food, and lots of drinks.  It was a great time!

If you are not familiar with Fair Oaks Farms you have to check them out!  They have lots of activites for children and adults.  You can watch them make cheese, see baby animals, and eat some great farm fresh food.

Below is some of my favorites from the event as well as the red carpet photos!  Enjoy!

Marie & Barry: Wedding

Marie & Barry   |   June 21, 2014   |   Bandon, Oregon

Marie and Barry got married in a little church in the costal town of Bandon in Oregon.  It was such a joy to be able to photograph these two!  Just seeing how they look at each other, you know that their love for each other is strong.

And... can we talk about their cake topper!!!! Amazing!

Below is a small selection of photos from their big day.

Unfortunately I did not aquire the vendor list that I usually do.  If you were a vendor that worked on this wedding, please email me and I will add you to the credits.  :)
Ceremony Venue: Saint John's Episcopal Church

Heltzel Family: Family Portraits at the Zoo

You may remember the Heltzel family from their family portraits last year.  (You can view those photos here: Heltzel Family)  They contacted me to take new family portraits and they wanted to take them at the zoo.  We got to the zoo right when they opened and it was a beautiful day outside.  The wallaby's and goats even cooperated for a few of the shots.
Enjoy a few of my favorite photos below!

Jordan & David: Wedding

Jordan & David  |  June 7, 2014  |  Lafayette, Indiana
Where to begin with these two...  I first met Jordan and David during their engagement session.  (You can view their engagement session here: Jordan & David: Engagement)  Jordan and David both live in Minnesota and were having their wedding in Lafayette since that is where Jordan is from.  We were trying to find a time that they would be in town so we could take some engagement photos.  Turns out they were only going to be in town for Thanksgiving and I was going to be in Oregon celebrating the holiday with my husband's family.  However, luck was on our side.  My flight came in the morning before they were leaving so we were able to sneak in a quick session.  They were a lot of fun and I was looking forward to their wedding.
Jordan and David's wedding definitely reflected the two of them!  It was filled with homemade items from their friends and family.  The ceremony featured speeches from their family, the cocktail hour was home to many games, and the reception, which was lovingly decorated by family and friends feature square dancing!
And their cake!  Their cake was made by a family friend and featured a custom cake topper completely with replica's of their two cats!  I love cats, so this was a hit with me :)
Jordan and David:  I wish you two all the best!  It was a pleasure being able to photograph your big day.  I wish you many years of happiness! <3

Michele & Frank: Wedding

Michele and Frank were married on May 31, 2014 in Lafayette, Indiana.

They are a very lovely laid back couple.  Below are a few of my favorites from their big day.  As you will be able to tell, Frank decided to change out of his tux after the ceremony so he did not wear a tux for their couple portraits.  He said "she fell in love with me looking like this so I don't need the tux".  I think more people need to remember that the only thing that matters for a wedding is having two people who love each other.  We all put too much emphasis on having the perfect wedding and looking perfect.  Take a little lesson from this couple, love is all you need! :)

Congratulation Michele and Frank!  It was a pleasure being part of your big day.  I wish you countless years of happiness.

Enjoy some of my favorites from our session!

Holly Birthday PhotoBooth: Event

You may remember Holly (along with Rob and Adam) from their shoot last year. You can find that post here: Alice In Wonderland.   Holly contacted me to come take some photos at her birthday party last weekend.  She set up a photobooth and wanted some pictures of the festivities.  Below are some of my favorites.

Lynnleigh: Newborn

Meet little Miss Lynnleigh.  Lynnleigh was only 6 days old when we took these photos and she sooo small and adorable.  Check out some of my favorites below.

Time for a print sale!  Now until April 23rd at 5pm enjoy 10% off of all print products.  This includes: prints, canvases, albums, etc!  If you would like to take advantage of this offer let me know, but HURRY offer ends soon!

Speitel Family: Family Portraits

This weekend I had the opportunity to photograph this adorable family.  The sun was shining and it was a high of 70 degrees.  Such a nice day!  There were even some blue flowers sticking out of the ground :)

Business Headshots

This weekend I spent some time IN FRONT of the camera!  I was in desperate need of some business headshots.  The photo I had been using was a self portrait that was taken with a mirror (not to be confused with a selfie), ugh!  I had been using that photo for two years, two years!  I had been so caught up with being behind the camera that I never made time to get headshots taken.  My husband Devin (who is one of my wedding second shooters) went out with me to take the portraits.  I always tell Devin that he should join me and we can be one of those husband and wife photography teams.  However, he always says no.  He is such a good photographer but it just isn't his thing.  He will join me as my second shooter every once in awhile, but prefers to just be my buisness cheerleader.

Anyway, below are some of my favorites!  Check out my website for the ones that made the cut!

Carter: Newborn Portraits

Meet Carter!  Carter was 8 days old when I was able to photograph him.  I know you wouldn't think he was that young with that head of hair of his!  He is absolutely adorable!

Beers Family: Family Portraits

Meet the Beers Family!  This adorable family won a FREE session from a promotion I was doing earlier this year. (Keep a lookout at our Facebook page: for upcoming promotions!) We scheduled a date at the end of March hoping that it would be nice outside.  It was 55 and sunny the day before our shoot.  The day of our shoot it was 45...  Not too bad, but not as warm as we hoped, but the session turned out just fine!  Their little girl was all smiles the whole time!

Samara: Senior Portraits

Meet the beautiful Samara.  She is graduating this year and is planning to attend Purdue University and major in Elementary Education.  We lucked out and had a beautiful day, sun was shinning and it was in the 50's!  We did some shots around downtown Lafayette and then we headed to Purdue's campus to take a couple shots.

Jessica: Maternity

I had a lot of fun with my shoot with Jessica.  It was a bit cold and the snow was pretty deep in some areas but Jessica was a trouper and we ended up getting some amazing photos!

Jessica, thanks again and congratulations!  I can't wait to see photos of your little girl and you know who to contact if you need newborn photos! :)

Brian: Headshots

Brian lives in Michigan but was in the Lafayette area for business and was wanting to get some headshots taken for his book that he is writing.  He figured while he had some downtime he would kill two birds with one stone and get some headshots done.  It was a pretty cold day and had started to snow a bit, but we still managed to get in some great shots.  Below is a small selection of the photographs.  Be sure to keep an eye out for his book and maybe you'll see one of these photos on the back cover :)

Coos Bay, Oregon: Landscape

My husband I went to Coos Bay Oregon over Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with his family.  While we were there he took me to some of his favorite spots and I of course snapped a few photos.  Below are some of my favorites from the trip.

Pet Supplies Plus: Holiday Pet Portraits Event

I was lucky enough to photograph some cute pets last weekend at Pet Supplies Plus!  I teamed up with Pet Supplies Plus in Lafayette, Indiana and offered FREE holiday pet photos for their customers.  Pretty sweet!  Below are some of the photos!

Hot House Market: Holiday Happy Hour Event

I was able to be a part of Hot House Market's Holiday Happy Hour!  They had 20% off of everything in the store, food and drinks, and a pretty cool photobooth that I got to take advantage of.  Needless to say, it was a great time!

If you're a reader of my blog and follow my photography then I trust that you have already checked out Hot House Market, but in case you haven't, you need to.  They have adorable vintage finds at an amazing price!

Crystal & Kimi: Gender Reveal

Crystal was my contest winner (don't know what contest I'm talking about, then become a Facebook fan and she wanted to do a gender reveal shoot.  I had not done a gender reveal, so I was very excited to do one!  Crystal had some ideas of what she was envisioning for the shoot so we combined ideas and came up with this.  Crystal brought along her daughter Kimi for the shoot; Kimi is excited to have a baby brother and I am sure that she is going to make a great big sister.

I can't wait to see photos of your little bundle of joy when he arrives.  (if you need a newborn photographer you know where to find me...) :)

Jordan & David: Engagement

Jordan and David are living in Minnesota but are having their wedding next June in Lafayette, where Jordan is originally from.  Jordan contacted me awhile ago about photographing their wedding and we were trying to figure out when we would be able to take engagment photos since they live out of state.  Luckily we were able to meet over the Thanksgiving holiday.  Jordan and David came up to celebrate Thanksgiving with Jordan's family.  I got back into Lafayette from celebrating Thanksgiving in Oregon with my husband's family the day before they were heading back to Minnesota.  My flight wasn't delayed and the weather was nice so it worked out perfectly!  It was a pleasure to meet these two!  I can't wait to photograph their wedding in June!

Congrats you two! :)

I don't know about you, but I am a huge fan of Cyber Monday.  You don't have to leave your house and fight the crowds like you do on Black Friday, you can stay at home (or at work) and shop from the comfort of your computer all while getting amazing deals.  Some deals on Cyber Monday are better than the deals on Black Friday!

I am always an avid Cyber Monday shopper, going online and seeing if any gift purchases are on sale, so I thought I should offer an amazing Cyber Monday deal for all of you!

Until Midnight tonight, 12/2, you can purchase a portrait session at 25% off!!!!  This is a spectacular deal, one that has never been offered before!  Only catch is that you have to email me ( by midnight tonight, after midnight the sale is not valid!  You must schedule your portrait session between now and February 28, 2014!

So what are you waiting for?  Cash in on the savings and send me an email, you won't regret it! :)

Misty: Portraits

Being an on location only photographer means sometimes having to deal with difficult weather situations.  This shoot was definitely one of those times.  Misty and I had such a tough time with the weather!  We had planned to do the shoot for 3 weeks before the weather cooperated with us.  The first time we scheduled it decided to rain so we rescheduled for another day and it rained again.  I was starting to think that mother nature had another plan for our shoot but finally on the third reschedule she decided to cooperate.  Although it didn't rain, it was 37 degrees.  Misty worked through the cold like a pro!

Scyler: Mask Fashion Shoot

Scyler was brave enough to let me glue rhinestones to her face for this shoot!  So glad she was up for it because I love how they turned out!

Thanks for being awesome and braving the cold, Scyler!

On another note, if you're wanting photos taken before the holidays be sure to contact me soon, I'm close to be completely booked.

Alice In Wonderland: Group Portraits

You don't need an excuse to take photos.  You can get together with your friends and take photos any time you like!  That is what this group did!  They had a big group and all dressed up as the characters of Alice In Wonderland last week.  They didn't get as many photos as they had liked so they contacted me about taking some photos.  Most of the group had gone back to Michigan, but Alice, Mad Hatter, and the White Rabbit are part of this shoot.

I had a blast shooting this group of friends!
